Best of 2009 - Music (1-5)

At last here is the conclusion to my comprehensive best of list, I'll be sure to post the complete list of albums in the running for the top ten soon.

#1 Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix -  Ever since Rally popped up on a Veronica Mars (RIP) episode I've been a huge fan of these guys, and quite frankly this year for me it just didn't get any better than this.

#2 Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest - Moody, atmospheric, and beautiful while this album might not be for everyone, I challenge you to dislike Two Weeks (and the fan made video)...

#3 Harlem Shakes - Technicolor Health - Sadly the first and last album from these guys, as they have since broken up, but one album this good is more than a lot of bands are ever going to accomplish... so at least we have that.

#4 Fun. - Aim and Ignite - Any fan of The Format will adore this album, everything that made them so much fun is intact and alive, and in many cases improved upon.

#5 Florence + the Machine - Lungs - The best part of this album is the pure diversity contained within and the ease with which they manage to hop from one genre to the next without affecting the flow of the album as a whole. The highlight for me is obviously Cosmic Love (which I posted earlier), but the rest of the album is nearly as strong.

Really enjoy fun. and Phoenix. Going to have to check out the other albums soon.

I think Phoenix became too overplayed for me - I heard it everywhere and had to stop listening to the album. I really need to listen to Grizzly Bear, I guess!! And Harlem Shakes!

WOOOOOOOOO! I love how we both said the same thing basically about fun. :)
