Best of 2009 - Music (6-10)
This year was incredibly difficult to narrow down to a top 10 list, I almost decided to just throw up the list of about thirty albums I've been working off of and leave it at that, but I fought through it and narrowed it down to 10, though I may still post the master list later on. (Note: The live 10th anniversary recording of Clarity was disqualified since I felt having my all time favorite album in the running was unfair). Anyhow, without further ado here are the bottom 5 of my top 10 albums of the year.

#6 Girls - Album - Beneath the pretentious band name and album title lies a remarkable first release, from a band fronted by a guy with a completely crazy history (seriously look it up).

#7 Metric - Fantasies - Metric is one of those rare bands that keeps getting better with each passing album, and fantasies continues that streak.

#8 Dashboard Confessional - Alter the Ending (Acoustic) - On here partly out of nostalgia and partly because it's just a great album, Dashboard's latest breaks the losing streak of the past couple of albums and really is a return to form particularly since the release was delivered with both acoustic and full band versions, and I being the purist that I am had to go with the acoustic.
#9 Say Hi - Oohs & Aahs -I've had this album in near constant rotation for most of the year. It has that perfect mix of catchy melody and clever wordplay that I simply adore

#10 Stars of Track and Field - A Time For Lions - SoTaF have the rare honor of being among the few opening acts I've seen and immediately become a huge fan (Longwave being another one, who Stars show more the a passing resemblance to on this latest album). While they may have taken a slightly different approach from their atmospheric and subdued debut, hints of that band are still prevalent but have instead lent their talents to some fantastic pop songs.

I have to listen to more of the music you sent me; I've been repeating certain albums nonstop that have made it to my list! (To be posted tonight I think??)
But I have to say that I really loved Dashboard's Shade of Poison Trees album. When you say last couple of albums I really do think I like Shade better than Alter the Ending. But yeah, Dusk and Summer blew and I refuse to listen to it or care when he plays a song from that album live!
